How it works

I · Split

One scan in. One file per student out.

Print exams with a QR code on every page, or don’t. Gradency splits a single scanned PDF into one file per student — by QR code, by a fixed page count, or from files you’ve already split. Pages it can’t read are listed for you to fix, not guessed.

II · Grade

Read against your key, question by question.

Upload the answer key, then set points per question and sub-part — or have a rubric drafted from the key and edit it. Choose lenient, standard or strict, and add your own grading instructions. Every paper gets a score and written feedback per question, for handwritten and printed answers alike.

III · Review

Your judgment goes where it’s needed.

Every question carries a confidence score the model reports. Uncertain answers are flagged, not hidden, with the reason, and gathered in a Needs Review queue. Override any score or comment; the original AI score stays on record next to yours.

IV · Return

Results students can read — and question.

Email results, or hand out a private link or a printed sheet of QR codes. Students see their scores and feedback, never your answer key, and can contest a specific question on the same page. You reply there too.

Curve studio
Six curve types, from a flat add to a bell curve. Preview every student before you apply; curves never stack, and revert restores the originals.
Weighted gradebook
Weight each exam, see running totals and letter grades, and export a CSV for your LMS. Ungraded exams don’t drag a total down.
Item analysis
Difficulty and discrimination for every question, so a question that misfired is easy to spot.
Rubric library
Save a rubric once and apply it to any exam.
Term rollover

  • Every AI score is a draft. Your changes are saved next to the original AI score, so you can always see what changed.
  • Low-confidence answers are flagged for review with the model’s stated reason — never quietly accepted.
  • Students see their feedback, never your answer key.
  • Sessions use HttpOnly cookies with CSRF protection; two-factor sign-in with an authenticator app and backup codes is available.
  • A request for another account’s data returns “not found” — a rule covered by our automated test suite.

What we don’t claim: SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification, or third-party penetration testing.
